Resetting Your Password

Forgot your password or need to change it? Follow these simple steps to regain access to your InnGO account.
Resetting Forgotten Password
If You Can't Log In
- Go to InnGO login page
- Click "Forgot Password?" link
- Enter your email address (the one you used to register)
- Click Send Reset Link
- Check your email inbox
What Happens Next:
- You'll receive email within 2-5 minutes
- Subject: "Reset Your InnGO Password"
- Click the reset link in email
- Link valid for 1 hour
- Click reset link in email
- Enter new password (twice to confirm)
- Click Reset Password
- Password updated! Log in with new password
Didn't Receive Reset Email?
Check These First:
- Spam/Junk folder: Email might be there
- Correct email: Use the exact email you registered with
- Wait 5 minutes: Email can take a few minutes
- Check inbox filters: Email might be auto-filtered
Still No Email?
- Try password reset again
- Use different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
- Clear browser cookies and try again
- Contact support: support@inngo.com
📧 Gmail Users: Check Promotions and Updates tabs in addition to Primary inbox!
Changing Password (While Logged In)
If You Know Current Password
- Log in to InnGO dashboard
- Click Settings in menu
- Go to Security tab
- Click Change Password
- Enter:
- Current password
- New password
- Confirm new password
- Click Update Password
- Password changed successfully!
Creating a Strong Password
Password Requirements:
- At least 8 characters long
- Contains uppercase letter (A-Z)
- Contains lowercase letter (a-z)
- Contains number (0-9)
- Contains special character (!@#$%^&*)
Good Password Examples:
- MyHotel2025! (easy to remember, secure)
- InnGO#Lagos99 (location-based)
- Gr8Hotel@VI (creative substitution)
Bad Password Examples (Avoid):
- ❌ password123 (too common)
- ❌ 12345678 (only numbers)
- ❌ hotelname (too simple)
- ❌ qwerty (keyboard pattern)
💡 Pro Tip: Use a passphrase! Example: "ILoveMyHotel2025!" - easy to remember, hard to crack!
Password Security Best Practices
Do's:
- ✓ Use unique password for InnGO (don't reuse)
- ✓ Change password every 3-6 months
- ✓ Use password manager (LastPass, 1Password)
- ✓ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- ✓ Never share your password with anyone
- ✓ Log out on shared computers
Don'ts:
- ❌ Don't write password on paper near computer
- ❌ Don't email password to yourself
- ❌ Don't use same password for all accounts
- ❌ Don't share password with staff (create separate accounts)
- ❌ Don't let browser save password on public computers
Account Locked After Failed Login Attempts
What Happens:
After 5 failed login attempts, your account is temporarily locked for 30 minutes (security measure).
How to Unlock:
- Wait 30 minutes and try again, OR
- Use "Forgot Password" to reset immediately

Staff Password Resets
Resetting Staff Member Password (As Owner/Manager)
- Settings → Staff
- Find staff member
- Click Actions → Reset Password
- Choose option:
- Email reset link to staff
- Or generate temporary password
- Staff member can change password after logging in
Staff Forgot Their Password
Staff can reset their own password:
- Go to InnGO login page
- Click "Forgot Password?"
- Enter their staff email
- Follow reset instructions in email
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Why Enable 2FA?
Extra security layer - even if someone knows your password, they can't log in without your phone.
Setting Up 2FA:
- Settings → Security
- Click Enable 2FA
- Choose method:
- SMS to phone (easiest)
- Email code
- Authenticator app (most secure)
- Verify setup with test code
- Save backup codes in safe place
Logging In With 2FA:
- Enter email and password as usual
- You'll be asked for 6-digit code
- Check your phone/email for code
- Enter code
- Logged in successfully!
⚠️ Save Backup Codes: If you lose your phone, backup codes let you log in. Keep them safe!
Google Sign-In (OAuth)
Logging In With Google
If you registered using Google account:
- Click "Continue with Google" on login page
- Choose your Google account
- Logged in automatically (no password needed)
Linking Google Account
- Settings → Security
- Click Link Google Account
- Sign in with Google
- Now you can log in either way (email/password OR Google)
Suspicious Account Activity
Signs Your Account May Be Compromised:
- Logged out unexpectedly
- Can't log in with correct password
- Strange bookings you didn't create
- Email changed without your action
- Received "new device login" alerts you didn't make
What to Do Immediately:
- Reset your password immediately
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- Check Settings → Login History for suspicious logins
- Log out all other sessions (Settings → Security)
- Contact support: support@inngo.com
- Change passwords on other accounts if you reused it
Common Password Issues
"Password is incorrect"
- Double-check Caps Lock is off
- Try copy-pasting from password manager
- Check for extra spaces
- Use "Forgot Password" if still stuck
"New password can't be same as old password"
- You're using the same password
- Choose a different new password
"Password doesn't meet requirements"
- Check it has: uppercase, lowercase, number, special character
- Must be at least 8 characters
